About the location
Abkhazia’s largest lake at 950 m, in a wooded gorge among peaks up to 3,200 m. The water shifts colour by season — green-yellow in summer, deep blue in winter; low clouds often drift over the surface. Stalin’s dacha, with preserved interiors, stands nearby.
How to get there
A ~40 km mountain serpentine off the main road. Paved; we escort the convoy for large vehicles.
